Everything a treasurer or member needs — setting up your group, getting paid, the WhatsApp channel, fees, safety, and the optional modules.
Sign up, pick your category from the ten options, and you instantly get a unique group code (like WZ-NRB-4471). Then a quick 5-step setup: set where your money lands, activate payment modes, add members, set the contribution schedule, and (optionally) link WhatsApp.
The back-office shows a live "Setup 3/5" checklist so you always know what’s left. Core bookkeeping is free, forever.
Three ways, your choice: members self-enrol with the group code and are admitted immediately; or self-enrol and wait for your approval; or you create them in the back-office and hand over a login.
You can also import your full existing history from a spreadsheet, so you start complete — not from a blank slate.
Straight to your group’s OWN account — Wazi never holds it. In the group’s Payment methods tab you set either your own bank paybill + account number (members pay there and we capture it automatically), or your own Lipa-na-M-Pesa / Daraja details for an instant in-app prompt.
Because the money settles to your bank, not ours, no payment licence is needed and your contributions are never at risk.
1) In the app — tap Contribute, see the fee, confirm, and pay by M-Pesa/Airtel prompt. 2) Directly on M-Pesa — pay the group paybill from the M-Pesa menu and we capture it via the C2B feed. 3) Over WhatsApp — forward your M-Pesa confirmation to the Wazi number and the assistant records it.
Every route lands in the same live ledger, so nothing is entered twice.
Members message one shared Wazi WhatsApp number — we recognise them by their phone and link them to your group. They can contribute, check their statement, or just forward an M-Pesa confirmation, all with simple buttons.
A business number can’t sit inside your own WhatsApp group, so members message the Wazi number directly (1-to-1). Forwarded confirmations are verified against M-Pesa’s real records before they’re credited — a faked message can never be recorded.
Bookkeeping is free. Wazi takes a small tariff fee per contribution — free below KES 100, scaling gently to a KES 150 cap. It’s added on top of the contribution and shown before the member confirms; nothing is hidden or skimmed.
The contribution always goes to your group first (Leg 1); the small fee follows (Leg 2). If the fee leg fails, your deposit is safe — the fee is just collected next time.
Yes. Wazi never holds your funds — they settle to your group’s own bank paybill. WhatsApp captures are cross-matched against the real M-Pesa C2B feed (consume-once + payer-number checks). Every contribution is timestamped and tamper-evident.
Your data is protected (encrypted, role-based access, registered with the Data Protection Commissioner), and you can export your full records to PDF/Excel any time — no lock-in.
Savings = every confirmed contribution; each member sees a live balance. Shares = members buy share capital at your group’s nominal value, and you can declare a dividend per share. Loans = a member applies, you approve and disburse, and Wazi builds a flat-interest repayment schedule.
A member can borrow up to 3× their savings. These are optional modules you switch on when the group is ready.
